Winter Fest returns to the Old Mill

Winter Fest is back this weekend at the Old Mill. The fun kicks off tonight with live music from Brandi Cyrus and Saxsquatch and the opening of The Rally (a pump-style ski/snowboard course). The weekend also includes a wine walk, ice carving, custom fire pits, food vendors, and a family play zone. You can see the full lineup of music and events here. Note that you need to buy a ticket to get in on the action (or be a Mt. Bachelor season pass holder).

🍽 Dinner Club Signups Close on Monday

Just a quick reminder that signups for next week’s dinner club (happening on Wednesday at restaurants around the Old Mill) close on Monday at 6 PM. Want to join in on the fun and meet some new friends? You can sign up here.

🏞 Nature Night Signup

In Wednesday’s newsletter, we shared a link to sign up for next month’s Nature Night hosted by the Deschutes Land Trust. Somewhere along the way, an internet gremlin messed up the link (note from Derek: it’s me. I’m the internet gremlin). If you want to sign up for their upcoming event, The Water Remembers, you can do so here. The event is free, but registration is required as these always fill up fast!

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🚗 Thomason Auto Group closes: Some sad news to share as Thomason Auto Group has announced that they will be closing permanently after their owner, Chris Scott Thomason, died in an avalanche in California last month.

🍆 Get Spicy at Sparrow: Sparrow Bakery’s Valentine’s Day tradition is back for another year of naughty and nice pastries. As always, they’ll have a tent set up outside their NWX location on Valentine’s Day at 8 AM that will be home to all of their cheeky, erotic-themed concoctions. Inside the bakery, it will be business as usual in case you just want your normal ocean roll and cardamom latte.

I shared this story last year, but there are a whole lot of new folks around here, so I’ll share it again. I took my kids (they were probably 2 & 4) to Sparrow on Valentine’s Day a few years back (to go to the regular side of the bakery, not the tent), and they asked what was in the tent. I told them naughty doughnuts, and for the rest of the year, any time they wanted to go to Sparrow, they’d ask if we could go to the naughty doughnut store. 😆
