🎄 Christmas Tree Pickups from the Scouts
We know we’re not even to Christmas yet, but if you want to make sure your tree doesn’t end up sitting in your back yard until March (that certainly hasn’t ever happened to us 😬), then now is the perfect time to schedule your tree pickup. The Scouts will be picking up trees all over Bend on the following dates: December 27th and 28th, 2025, January 3rd and 4th, 2026. You can schedule your pickup here.
📰 Local news for kids, from kids
This isn’t exactly new news, as this organization has been around for a bit, but they reached out to me on Instagram and asked to help spread the word a bit! Obsidian News is a local news organization that is run by area high schoolers through a two-year program overseen by EO Media Group’s nonprofit, The Fund for Oregon Rural Journalism. Being high schoolers, their focus is on news that impacts the younger crowd around Central Oregon.
🍽️ Christmas Dinner in Bend
Worried about the Bumpus family dogs breaking into the house on Christmas day and eating up your turkey before it's finished cooking (if you get that reference, then we can be friends)? Or just want to leave the cooking to the experts so you can enjoy a day of laps on the mountain and presents? Well then, you’re in luck, as there are a number of restaurants around town that will be open for business on Christmas Day. I know this won’t be an exhaustive list, but here are a few we’ve found so far.
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
🧺 Update on Farewell Market: Bend Buzz reader Rienna stopped by Farewell Market after we sent out the newsletter on Monday and sent in the following update:
They are open Monday-Saturday 9am-9pm and Sunday 9am-8pm. They have lots of local products, the most gf options I've seen anywhere, and source with a focus on local, healthy, natural, and dye-free.
So there you go! If you’re looking for a new neighborhood market or are focused on locally sourced, gluten-free, or other healthy options, then it seems like this will be a go-to spot!
