TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Bend! After a brief detour back into winter (at least in the mountains), it’s looking like we have a pretty dang nice week ahead as we look forward to the upcoming holiday weekend. Just don’t set anything on fire, please.

In today’s Bend Buzz:

  • 🎆 What to do on the 4th

  • 🛏 Shilo Inn property sold

  • 🚧 Pilot Butte summit closing this week

Let’s get to it.

🎆 What to do on the 4th of July

It’s around this time that I start getting a lot of “What is there to do on the 4th?” questions. So I figured it’d be helpful to share a few things that’ll be happening in Bend.

There’s also Frontier Days and the rodeo in La Pine, the bike parade in Sunriver, the 4th of July parade in Redmond, and Sisters 4th Fest in Sisters.

🚧 Access to Pilot Butte Restricted

There will be a few closures on Pilot Butte beginning on Tuesday evening and running through July 5th. The road to the summit, and the summit itself, will be closed starting at 9:30 PM on Tuesday and will remain closed through the afternoon of July 5th. You can still walk the trails until the night of July 3rd, after that the whole butte will be closed until the afternoon of the 5th.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🛏 Shilo Inn property sold: It’s looking like we’ll start seeing changes at the old Shilo Inn property, as it has been reported that the hotel has been sold. There is no word yet on who the new owner is, but they estimate that renovations will take around a year.

TOGETHER WITH POMEGRANATE HOME & GARDEN

There’s a reason a quick stop at Pomegranate turns into an hour of happy wandering. The Serendipity Saturday Market takes that treasure-hunting magic outdoors on the historic property, with local makers, blooms from Central Oregon Flower Collective, and a lawn full of small delights.

Come hunt, linger, and leave with something special that you likely didn’t even know you needed. Every Saturday, 10-1, through August (closed for the 4th!).
