🚧 Cascade Lakes Highway opens for the season
Folks wanting to get in some still very snowy and chilly lake time will get their wish as the Cascade Lakes Highway will be opening up on Thursday at 8 AM. Maybe don’t start getting those paddle boards and beach chairs ready quite yet, though, as many of the higher-elevation lakes still have a lot of snow.
💨 Locals take home the PPP crown
A pair of Bend locals took home the men’s and women’s crown at the Pole Pedal Paddle over the weekend. Mike Condon took home the title on the men’s side in his 15th(!!!) attempt while Grace Perkins took gold on the women’s side. Congrats to everyone who braved the less-than-ideal weather and competed over the weekend!
💻️ Come hang out next week
Next week is the week that we are hosting our first official meetup! This inaugural event will be held at BendTECH coworking space and is geared towards folks who work from home or remote work and want to expand their social and professional network. There’s still time to RSVP and come hang out and sip on some delicious beverages provided by the folks at BendTECH.
The meetup takes place on Wednesday, May 28th at 5:30 PM, and you can RSVP here.
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
🔮 Downtown crystal shop closing: Downtown Bend shop Arcane Mercantile announced that they will be closing their doors for good at the end of the month. Between now and then, they are offering 10% off everything in store and will be throwing one last going-away party on May 25th to say goodbye.
🥞 The old Shari’s location has a new tenant: Pie is out, and pancakes are in! Elmer’s Restaurant is set to take over the old Shari’s space off Highway 97 on the north side of Bend. If you frequently find yourself craving pancakes or an omelet at 4 PM, you’ll be in luck as they serve breakfast all day. The restaurant is slated to open in September.
