🚧 Galveston Avenue redesign project in flux

If you live in or travel through Bend’s west side, you’ve probably had your fill of construction-related road closures. They’re not over yet, though, as Galveston Ave is next on the list for a redesign and safety upgrade. The original plans for those upgrades may be in flux, though, as Bend’s growth and changes in safety standards have changed in the 10 years since this project began.

You can read the whole story over at the Bend Bulletin about the dilemmas the city is currently facing and what impact that may have on the project.

❄️ Road to Paulina opening on Wednesday

Get those fishing poles ready as the road up to Paulina Lake is opening tomorrow, May 14th, at 8 AM. Although maybe don’t get too excited, as there will still likely be significant roadside snow up at the top.

Paulina Lake Lodge is reporting snow in their parking lot and at all the campgrounds, but the boat ramp and lake are free of ice.

Next up on the list is the Cascade Lakes Highway, which is slated to open on May 22nd.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

⛳️ New indoor golf facility opens near the Old Mill: Bend’s newest indoor golf/hangoout spot, X-Golf, opened their doors over the weekend. Here you can refine your swing on their golf simulators or bring a group for a Wednesday evening hang with their full bar, pool tables, dart boards, and TVs.

X-Golf will be hosting a grand opening party on Friday. You can find them at 389 SW Scalehouse Court.

🥔 Fields Farm farmstand is open for the season: While development in Bend has pushed most farms further and further outside of town, there is still one growing fresh produce right in the middle of SE Bend. Fields Farm is located off of Pettigrew Rd, and their self-serve farmstand is once again open for the season. Here you can pick up farm fresh veggies (they currently have lettuce, bok choy, radishes, tomato plants, radishes, and green garlic) throughout the summer.
