🔧 Repair cafe coming to the Redmond Library
Have broken stuff that isn’t quite broken enough to get tossed out, but is beyond your repair skills? Here’s where the Repair Café comes in. The Environmental Center's Rethink Waste Project hosts these free (although you can chip in a few bucks if you want) events every few months, where their expert team of volunteer fixers will take a crack at getting your items back up and running again. Their team typically includes folks who can fix jewelry, small appliances, bikes, garments, and electronics. This month’s event is taking place at the Redmond Library on Wednesday from 4 - 6 PM.
🔥 Stage 1 fire restrictions go into effect
With the recent explosion of the Alder Springs Fire just to our north, it serves as a good reminder that fire season is already here. The Deschutes National Forest, Ochoco National Forest, Crooked River National Grassland, and Prineville District Bureau of Land Management have enacted Stage 1 fire restrictions, which means no campfires outside of designated areas. This also puts restrictions on chainsaw and generator usage, so make sure to read the full order before you head out on your next trip to the forest.
