If you've lived in Bend for more than a week, you've undoubtedly heard that the high desert is home to more than 300 days of sunshine per year. While this claim may not be totally true, it is true that Bend is an excellent location to harness the sun's power and turn it into clean, renewable energy.
Our friends over at National Solar are the local experts in doing just that; the community even nominated them The Official Community Choice Awards for Best Solar Energy Company in Bend!
On top of that, National Solar isn't just some door-to-door sales company. They will handle everything from the estimate to the engineering to the installation of your solar array and battery storage system. And from September 8 - October 31, they are offering discounted pricing for all local Deschutes County, Jefferson County, and Crook County homeowners.
Visit National Solar or call 541-348-8450 to schedule your free estimate today.

SNAPSHOTS
Ski swap weekend is here! Trade in that old pair of boots, bindings, and skis for a slightly less old pair of boots, bindings, and skis at the MBSEF ski swap. You’ll also find snowboards, winter clothes, helmets, and everything else snowsport-related. This event always draws huge crowds, so you better get there early for the best deals. The swap runs from 8 AM - 5 PM on Saturday, with extra discounts taken after 3 PM.
For 15 years, the Deschutes Historical Museum has been hosting the Historical Haunts Walking tour of Bend. Along the way, they’ve shared the stories of paranormal activity with thousands of visitors and locals alike. After this year, they are calling it quits (the tour, not the museum), so if you want to hear some of the spookiest tales from Bend’s past, you have only two chances remaining.
Tickets are still available for Friday and Saturday’s tours, and after that, you’ll be left to discover what goes bump in the city on your own….if you dare.
The Bend Film Fest keeps the reels rolling through the weekend, so whether you just hit up one film or turn the weekend into a marathon watching session, thanks for showing your support to the filmmakers who push the limits to produce these incredible works of art.
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
The group behind the community effort to purchase Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort is holding a kick-off celebration on Saturday in Drake Park. Come and join what promises to be one of the biggest community events of the year and hear from the leaders to learn more about their vision for the future of our local mountain.
With Humm Kombucha preparing to close the doors to their Eastside taproom (don’t worry, they’re just moving downtown), Manzanita Grill has packed up shop and is moving to Bend’s northeast side, where they will be stationed outside of Van Henion Brewing. They officially reopen on Tuesday, October 15th, and will be open Monday through Saturday, 11 AM - 7 PM.

🎨 CALLING ALL LOCAL ARTISTS AND MAKERS
One of the reasons I started the Bend Buzz was to give a voice to locals doing cool stuff. And no one fits that description better than the artists who fill Bend’s shops, galleries, and online storefronts with amazing work.
Later this fall, we will publish a shop local guide filled with amazing work from artists across the high desert.
If you fit that description (or know someone who does), click the button below to send us your work to include in the guide. These can be one-off creations or items that you have multiples of, like prints, calendars, puzzles, etc.
THANKS!
Stay cool, and thank you again for reading!
