⚽️ Bend Parks and Rec Signups Start Now

Like, right now (assuming you’re reading this at 6 AM on Monday). I’m pretty certain that battling for coveted swim lesson spots is Bend’s favorite competitive sport after downhill skiing and mountain biking, and the fall edition of the games kicked off this morning.

Today’s signups included recreation and sports programs/leagues, and tomorrow’s will be for all things aquatic. You can take a look at the playbook of everything happening this fall here, and then head here to sign up.

🚧 New Roundabout at Yeoman & Deschutes Market Opens

Folks heading into town (or just trying to get to the Pine Nursery dog park) along Deschutes Market Road can breathe a sigh of relief as the roundabout construction at Deschutes Market and Yeoman is complete. There is still plenty of construction happening over there, including the extension of Yeoman to Butler Market Rd and a canal crossing that will connect Yeoman to NE 18th St, but at least this step is done.

In other roundabout construction news - the closure at the intersection of Bear Creek, Pettigrew, & Purcell is being extended into October. But this is actually good news! The project is so far ahead of schedule that they are finishing the new roundabout this year, and the planned closure for next spring/summer will no longer be needed.

🛫 Alaska Airlines adds new direct route to Burbank

Alaska Airlines will be filling in the hole left by the departure of Avelo Airlines with a new direct flight from Redmond to Burbank starting on October 26th. Just in time to start planning those weekend winter escapes.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🥐 & 🍷 Two New Shops Opening at Discovery West: The Discovery West neighborhood is welcoming two new shops, Put A Cork In It and Sparrow Mercado, to its neighborhood hub, Discovery Corner.

Put A Cork In It is a wine bar that will be offering curated wines, tastings, events, and more. They officially opened their doors for business over the weekend.

Sparrow Mercado is an offshoot of Sparrow Bakery (you may have heard of them) that will be stocked with all your favorite pastries, coffee, and grab-and-go items. Their grand opening will take place on Tuesday, August 4th.

💪 Redbird Physio opens second location: Folks looking for physio appointments around town know how long the waits can be, so this should be welcome news. Redbird Physio has opened its second Bend location at 27th and Reed Market. Now you can get your body back in working order and enjoy some tacos and a brew afterwards.
