A Housing Report for When the Headlines Aren't Enough
I've spent a lot of time looking at housing market reports. Most do a good job telling you what happened. Median price went up. Inventory went down. Homes took longer to sell. Interesting information, but not always the information that's most helpful when you're actually trying to make a decision in the market.
Over the last five years, I've tested a lot of different stats and ways of looking at our market. That eventually turned into something I've been working on for quite a while:
The H.O.M.E. Report
Housing Observation & Market Evaluation
Maybe you're hearing buyers have leverage, but the homes in your price range are still moving quickly. Maybe you're thinking about selling and aren't sure how much competition you'd actually face. Or maybe you just want to know which market changes are worth paying attention to and which are mostly noise.
That's the gap I built this report to fill.
Instead of stopping at what happened, I try to answer the next question: What does THAT mean?
Each month, I break down what's changing across Bend, Redmond, Sisters, La Pine, Crook County, and Jefferson County, including where buyers and sellers have leverage, what's happening at different price points, how market time is affecting negotiations, and what I'm watching next.
A new report comes out on the 5th of every month, and it's completely free.
You can read or download it at abrestate.com. No name, email, or contact information required.
And if you'd rather have the newest report show up automatically each month, you can subscribe there too.

🥕 Job-A-Palooza at Bachelor
Want a job up on the mountain this winter? Now’s your chance to grab one as Mt. Bachelor is hosting their Job-A-Palooza on Saturday from 10 AM - 2 PM at Deschutes Brewery on Simpson Ave. Bring your resumes as they’ll be accepting applications and conducting interviews on the spot (first-come, first-served).
And speaking of Mt. Bachelor, they released an update on their overhaul of the Northwest Express lift, and it looks like things are on track for the beginning of ski season.
🚧 15th & Ferguson Roundabout to Open Today
Good news for folks on the SE side of town as the new roundabout at 15th and Ferguson is slated to open today (Friday) at 5 PM.
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
🍹Rapa Nui Tiki Lounge is closing down: Sad news for folks who want to get a little island time right here in Bend. Rapa Nui, the tiki lounge at the Old Mill, is closing its doors after service tonight. So if you want one more rum punch, you’d better hop down there ASAP.
🕸 Spider City Brewing moving sale: Spider City Brewing is moving out of their current location and into a new spot (new location still to be announced). They can’t bring everything with them, though, so they’re holding a moving sale and will be offloading tables, chairs, barrels, wine racks, and more! *On that note - New School Beer just put out an article with a roundup of all the movement in the Bend beer scene, including breweries for sale, relocating, shutting down, etc.
🦊 Foxtail open house: One of Bend’s favorite bakeshops is closer to making a return…although things will look a little different this time around. The Den will be a place for cooking, classes, art, astrology, and magical gatherings, and they’re opening the doors on Saturday for a sneak peek. You can swing by from 11 AM - 3 PM for some music, snacks, and to check out the new space. 1319 NW Union St
🐈⬛ Parking lot pawty: Playful Paws Cat Cafe is celebrating its 3rd trip around the sun (that’s 21 trips around the sun in cat years) with a parking lot pawty. The festivities are happening on Saturday from 10 AM - 2 PM.
🎉 10 Barrel 20th Anniversary Party: 10 Barrel Brewing turns 20, and this is your chance to show up to celebrate. Head over to their east side pub on Saturday from 4 - 9 PM for live music, axe throwing, food, tattoos, and throwback pricing on drinks.
🎩 Top Hat Spice Shop anniversary BBQ: We know the business happenings list is getting a little long, but we’ve got one more to highlight. Top Hat Spice Shop in the Old Mill is throwing a BBQ to celebrate 15 years in business. They’re roasting up a whole pig, so there should be plenty of bites for everyone during their celebration from 12 - 6 PM on Saturday.

At Active Bodywork, Monica and her team do deep, targeted work that relieves tension, improves mobility, and helps you recover. This isn't a relaxing spa massage. It's personalized bodywork built to make a difference.
Fall riding and ski season are right around the corner, so this is a good time to reset before they get here.
