TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Bend! Yesterday morning marked the official end of our garden, as that was quite the hard freeze on Saturday night. Figures that the forecast is calling for temps to hit 80 again this week.
In today’s Bend Buzz:
🖼 $20 art exhibit opens (but pieces aren’t for sale yet)
⚾ Bendite sets a world record
⛔ Pair of local businesses close
Let’s get to it.

SPONSORED BY DESCHUTES PUBLIC LIBRARY
Mark your calendars: Deschutes Public Library's fourth annual Literary Ghost walk materializes at the new Central Library on Wednesday, October 28, at 6:00 p.m.
This year's haunted stroll promises to be more spirited than ever, with live music, family-friendly crafts, and of course, the spirits of a variety of dearly departed authors—they're just dying to tell you about their life and works. But be careful as you walk through the stacks, as you never know who you’ll run into (or walk through). Costumes are encouraged at this all-ages event.
Be sure to check out the library's Events guide to learn more about the Literary Ghost Walk and all the of the amazing things happening at your library.

🖼 $20 Art Show exhibit opens
Want to get a peek at what’ll be available at this year’s $20 art show. The art is up on the walls at the High Desert Museum now and is available for viewing until the show and sale begins on October 23rd. Miss out on tickets to the extravaganza? (They sold out fast!) The art will be free to view and purchase on both Saturday and Sunday (October 23rd & 24th) from 12 - 5 PM.
🍽 October Dinner Club is coming up
Just a quick reminder that we’re just a week (and two days) out from our October dinner club, which is happening at 6 PM on Wednesday, October 21st. 50 folks have already signed up, and there’s always room for a few more!
Want to join? Get started here by filling out a quick survey and paying the matching fee. From there, we’ll set you up at a table with 5 other folks for dinner, followed by an after-meal beverage at a secret, to-be-announced location. Whether the night finishes off with karaoke at midnight is up to you.
⚾ Bendite sets a world record
Bend has no shortage of creative folks, and one of the bigger names in the online creative space is Will Taylor, creator of the Baseball Bat Bros YouTube channel. Last week, he published a video of him hitting tanks at Vince Genna Stadium in an attempt to break the world record for the fastest exit velocity ever hit. Ultimately, he hit a 126 MPH shot that broke the old mark of 123 MPH, and the world record now resides right here in Bend.
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
🍣 Mio Sushi at the Old Mill closes: Folks looking to grab some sushi at the Old Mill will have to find a new spot as Mio Sushi has closed its doors for good. We’ll keep you up to date on what will be coming next for that space.
🎶 Concert #2 for the 2027 season announced: The amphitheater announced its second concert for the 2027 summer season. Leon Bridges will be playing on August 12th, with presale tickets going on sale this Wednesday and the general sale starting on Friday.
⚙ Children’s Museum pop-up at Discovery West: The Children’s Museum is putting down roots (for a month, at least) at Discovery West with a month long popup. They’re hosting near-daily events, so I’d encourage you to check out the schedule if you want to pay them a visit in October.
☕ Fox & Fern coffee closes: I don’t have a whole lot of background info to share on this one, other than visitors (and, allegedly, their employees) showed up to a sign taped to the window saying that the store permanently closed. Their socials and website have already been taken offline, so who knows if we’ll hear anything more.
