TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Bend! We drove by Black Butte over the weekend and noticed that the snow was pretty much gone…although we wouldn’t recommend planting any tomatoes quite yet.

In today’s Bend Buzz:

  • 🌮 New taco shop opens

  • 🚲 Trails opening to e-bikes

  • 🥚 Egg my house fundraiser

Let’s get to it.

— Derek Carlson & Emily Elaro

Hi, Bend! I’m Amanda, the solo attorney behind Luman Law. I launched my practice in San Diego in 2015 and cut my teeth on serious federal criminal cases. After becoming a mom, I expanded into civil litigation and now handle a mix of complex, high-stakes, and everyday matters. Along the way, I’ve taken on some heavy hitters, including the State of California, a figure tied to the Trump hush-money trial (on an unrelated matter), and a multimillion-dollar e-commerce scammer whose case I ultimately handed over to the FTC to help maximize consumer relief.

I’ve loved to argue since I was a kid—law just happens to be a productive outlet for it. If you’re dealing with something and don’t know where to start, reach out. And if cost is an issue, reach out anyway—I do a fair amount of pro bono work so good people don’t get steamrolled due to financial limitations.

🚵 Trails Open Up to E-bikes

A few months back, we shared that some mountain bike trails would officially be opening to e-bikes following the winter wildlife closure (and we’re sure everyone was following those rules so far, right?). Well, the closures come to an end after Tuesday, which means you can now take your class 1 e-bikes (pedal assist only) on a bunch of trails around Bend and Sisters. COTA has a great write-up on what is and isn’t allowed and which trails are now e-bike legal.

🚧 Traffic Diverters Installed in Old Bend Neighborhood

And in other bike-related news, if you’ve been cutting through the Old Bend neighborhood to get between downtown and the Box Factory area, you might need to find a new route. The city has installed traffic blockers as part of its Bend Bikeways project that will limit auto traffic through the neighborhood.

🍽 Dinner Club Reminder

Just a quick reminder that the next dinner club is taking place on Thursday, April 2nd, at 6:30 PM. The restaurants will once again be around the Old Mill district, so there will be plenty of room to park and space to enjoy your meals. We already have more than 40 folks who will be getting together for dinner, and there’s still room for a few more.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

💓 New CPR + First Aid training business launches: You never know when you may be in the position to save a life, and now there’s a new way to learn the basics of CPR and first aid. REVIVE Bend offers physician-led, hands-on lifesaving training delivered directly to your workplace or organization. Work from a coffee shop (like me) and want to learn these life-saving skills? Keep an eye out for upcoming community-focused pop-ups.

An indoor baseball training facility in the works: Weather in Bend isn’t always conducive to outdoor training (hence the new indoor ski school that just opened), so a local group is aiming to give Bend’s baseball and softball players a place to hone their craft year-round. Negotiations are still underway with the city, but if all goes well, the new facility could open this fall on the east side of town.

🌮 Let’s taco bout it: I’m not usually one to miss out on the chance to dig into some new tacos, but here we are, a month late announcing the opening of Bend’s newest taco shop. Dani’s Taco Shop has opened in the old Super Burrito spot at NE Twin Knolls Dr (downtown Super Burrito fans can exhale). They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week.

LOCAL SPOTLIGHT

🥚 Egg My House Fundraiser: Ever wish the Easter bunny could just come to your house so you don’t have to get up early to hide eggs for your kids (or pups)? Well, your wish has been answered as Furry Freight will do just that. Choose your number of eggs and the preferred filling (candy, dog treats, or both), and they’ll hide them around your yard the night before Easter. All proceeds benefit local nonprofit Furry Freight Shelter Transport and their mission of saving shelter pets in overpopulated areas.

TOGETHER WITH FALLING LEAF TREE CARE

Get ahead of spring

If your yard is starting to green up sooner than usual this year, you’re not imagining it. Trees across Bend are already leafing out, which means it’s time to get ahead of your spring tree work.

This is a great window to bring in Falling Leaf Tree Care. Early-season pruning helps shape growth, improve tree health, and set your yard up for a more enjoyable summer.

It’s especially important for fruit trees. Pruning now can lead to better structure, healthier growth, and a stronger harvest later in the season.

A little work now goes a long way toward a backyard that feels good all summer long.
