🏫 Slow down for schools

School is back in session, which means that school zones throughout town are back to their 20 MPH speed limits. Keep an eye on the signs, as some zones are triggered by flashing lights while others are active all day on school days. Help keep Bend safe!

🪕 Bigstock at HooDoo

The Bigstock Festival kicks off today at Hoodoo and continues through Saturday. In addition to two amazing days of music and killer afterparties, the festival will raise money for two incredible Oregon organizations: Oregon Adaptive Sports and Cascadia Wildlands.

🍺 Big changes at 10 Barrel

Some big news about changes at 10 Barrel Brewing dropped yesterday. For those who are not in the know, 10 Barrel was owned by Anheuser-Busch/InBev for a number of years before being sold to Canadian cannabis company Tilray last year. Recently, the executives at Tilray uttered the scariest phrase in the corporate world, cost-synergies, and those synergies have unfortunately made their way to Bend. 10 Barrel’s innovation brewing team has been laid off, and its original founders resigned. Say what you will about 10 Barrel and their corporate ownership, but their beer was top-notch, and what their future now holds remains to be seen.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🇮🇴 Britain invades the west side

Come October 1st, the west side will be home to a new British pub and music venue. Opening in the Century Center, The Commonwealth Pub will be home to two food trucks, Hand Held Happiness (meat pies) and Whappos (Caribbean), plenty of TVs showing international sports, and a live music venue.

🍕 Square is the new round

A new pizza shop has opened on Bend’s west side along Galveston Ave. Kitchen Window Pizza serves square pan pizzas using a 72-hour fermented sourdough dough, which, if you’ve never had a slow-fermented sourdough pizza, then you’ve been missing out. You can bet we’ll be trying some soon and will report back.

🚲️ Starcycle celebrates its one-year anniversary in style

Starting today and continuing through the weekend, Starcycle will be offering free spin classes, free childcare, raffle prizes after every class, free coffee from Thump, and more! If you’ve ever wanted to give a spin class a shot, then this is the weekend to do it.

🍻 A new addition to the east side brewer’s district

Last, but certainly not least, in this week’s busy business roundup is the opening of Terranaut Brewing. Terranaut is taking over the space off of NE High Desert Ln previously occupied by Monkless (and 10 Barrel before that). While their brewpub is not yet open, you can find their beers being poured at taprooms around town.
