Design-Build Trends to Look For in 2026

At Sierra James Construction, we had fun looking back on Design-Build trends of 2025 and anticipating which trends we can expect for 2026. It’s always inspiring to reflect on how design continues to evolve. In 2026, we expect homes to be designed with a focus on wellness, flexibility, and long-term livability.

Some of the top anticipated trends include:
Spa-inspired bathrooms featuring soaking tubs, heated floors, and layered lighting to create space to unwind
Multifunctional spaces that adapt to changing needs without adding unnecessary square footage
Universal design, creating accessible homes that don’t feel accessible—supporting aging in place and multigenerational living

Our integrated design-build process and on-staff architect allow us to create spaces that are beautiful, practical, and future-ready.

🐶 Call of the Wild Correction

On Friday, we ran a feature on Call of the Wild, an off-leash dog adventure service. If you tried to give them a call or text, you may have noticed that you ended up at the wrong spot. Turns out that I messed up their phone number! If you wanted to get your dog outside and running all winter long, you can reach Josh at (973)420-3669 or email him at [email protected]. Sorry about that!

🏔️ Mountain Film on Tour

Each year, The Environmental Center brings Mountainfilm on Tour to Bend and the Tower Theatre to showcase incredible documentary films, thoughtfully curated for our Central Oregon audience. This film event features stories of adventure, climate change, culture, and resilience from around the world. There are two opportunities to catch the show, with tickets available for both Friday, February 6th, and Saturday, February 7th.

🍽️ Couples Dinner is Happening

Last week, we asked if you all would be interested in a couples dinner, and the answer was a resounding YES as we had nearly 350 of you saying that you’d be interested in attending! While I’m not sure I can find anywhere that can host 700 people for dinner (if you’re out there, let me know), we’ll get something on the books soon and will share those details ASAP. We’ll also get another of our regular dinner clubs on the schedule soon (likely sometime after Valentine’s Day).

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🥪 Stacks Dinner and Delicatessen (officially) opening today: Last week, Stacks Deli offered up a sneak peek of some of their upcoming menu items, and based on the pictures of the lines, you all are excited for what they have to offer. Well, as of today, the wait is over as they are officially open for business (no waiting in line outside this time). They’ll be open 11:30 AM - 8 PM with both indoor and outdoor seating available.
