🚵 Mt. Bachelor Summer Opening Day on Thursday

Summer is back at Mt. Bachelor as the season fun kicks off on Thursday. This year’s activities include mountain biking, bottom-to-top hiking trails, ziplining, chairlift rides, sunset dining, overnight camping, and two new disc golf courses. Need something for the kids? Bachelor will be offering daily childcare and kids’ bike camps starting on July 6th.

🥾 Pilot Butte to get New Stairs

A grant from the Bend Sustainability Fund will be bringing some new stairs to the trail around Pilot Butte. The project will be led by the Deschutes Trail Coalition and will involve replacing nearly 30-year-old wooden timber steps on the north side of the butte near the middle school.

🚧 Road construction updates

A trio of road updates for you all today.

First off - big news as the construction along Wilson Ave at the railroad crossing has finished up ahead of schedule. The road is now open again and should (hopefully) stay open for the foreseeable future.

Second - the northbound lanes of NE 18th St adjacent to the new Yeoman extension will be closed through July while crews install a turn lane and pedestrian island

Lastly - And this one is less of a construction update and more of a parking-related update. For folks who liked to park along Deschutes Market Road along the east side of Pine Nursery Park, you’ll need to find a new spot. The roadside has been lined with boulders, as attempts with signs and notices to alert folks that parking was not allowed along that stretch were being continually ignored.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🏊 Skyliner Club membership waitlist opens: The west side of Bend is slated to get a fancy new athletic facility in the fall of 2027, and the waitlist for founding memberships opened up yesterday. The Skyliner Club is slated to include a pool, hot and cold plunges, fitness areas, pickleball, basketball, and volleyball facilities, food trucks, and plenty more. I’m not sure how much the memberships are going to cost (likely a bit rich for my blood), but the space does look like it’ll be sweet.
