  • 🚵 Redline opens at Bachelor

⚾️ From Bend to the Big Leagues

Summit High School’s Slater de Brun can officially call himself a professional baseball player as he has signed a deal with the Baltimore Orioles after getting drafted in the 2nd round of the MLB draft. Here’s hoping that in the not-too-distant future, we can watch him compete on the big stage.

🎒 Applications open for Boys & Girls Club after-school care

If you’re looking for an after-school care option for your little ones, the Boys & Girls Club of Bend is accepting applications for the 2025/2026 school year. The downtown Bend location offers both full-time and part-time care options (full-time applicants get priority, though). You can learn more about the programs and scholarship opportunities here.

🚵‍♀️ Redline opens at Bachelor

Mt. Bachelor’s most well-known downhill mountain bike trail (and one that I will never, ever ride), Redline, has officially opened for the 2025 season. If you’re capable of tackling this infamous route, make sure to get your laps in now to prepare for the Redline Rally, which will take place at the end of August.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🍕 Esta Bien relaunches as SimĂłn: Neighborhood eatery Esta Bien announced over the weekend that they are under new ownership and have officially relaunched as Simòn. If you had a favorite dish at Esta Bien, then there’s a good chance that it will still be there, but expect some new menu items to pop up as the owners settle into the space.

🍓 Rawmona’s Kitchen open their downtown window: Rawmona’s Kitchen is celebrating the opening of their downtown window stand! Located at 910 NW Harriman St (right next to Lone Pine), they’ll be celebrating with some goodies, free agua fresca, and music on Monday (today!) from 5 to 8 PM.
