Summit High Schoolās Slater de Brun can officially call himself a professional baseball player as he has signed a deal with the Baltimore Orioles after getting drafted in the 2nd round of the MLB draft. Hereās hoping that in the not-too-distant future, we can watch him compete on the big stage.
š Applications open for Boys & Girls Club after-school care
If youāre looking for an after-school care option for your little ones, the Boys & Girls Club of Bend is accepting applications for the 2025/2026 school year. The downtown Bend location offers both full-time and part-time care options (full-time applicants get priority, though). You can learn more about the programs and scholarship opportunities here.
šµāāļø Redline opens at Bachelor
Mt. Bachelorās most well-known downhill mountain bike trail (and one that I will never, ever ride), Redline, has officially opened for the 2025 season. If youāre capable of tackling this infamous route, make sure to get your laps in now to prepare for the Redline Rally, which will take place at the end of August.

š Esta Bien relaunches as Simón: Neighborhood eatery Esta Bien announced over the weekend that they are under new ownership and have officially relaunched as Simòn. If you had a favorite dish at Esta Bien, then thereās a good chance that it will still be there, but expect some new menu items to pop up as the owners settle into the space.
š Rawmonaās Kitchen open their downtown window: Rawmonaās Kitchen is celebrating the opening of their downtown window stand! Located at 910 NW Harriman St (right next to Lone Pine), theyāll be celebrating with some goodies, free agua fresca, and music on Monday (today!) from 5 to 8 PM.

Looking for a new way to stay active this summer and beyond? Boardworks Climbing Gym is Bendās only 24/7 bouldering gym and fitness center. The fully air-conditioned and outfitted space is adults-only (18+), so you can climb on your own schedule without the crowds.
Never climbed before or just want to check out the space? No problem. Your first visit is totally free during open hours (Thursday & Friday 4ā8 PM, Saturday 3ā7 PM). Climbing shoe rentals are available for just $5, so all you need to do is show up and give it a try.
Once youāre in, youāll also get access to their members-only climbing community, which is perfect for planning your next Smith Rock adventure or swapping beta over a brew.

Buses leave twice per day and include pickup & dropoff at the Cascade Village Shopping Center.
