Meet Andrea Kosty, Family Nurse Practitioner at OnePeak Medical
Andrea Kosty, MSN, FNP-C, knows that healing often takes more than a prescription. That’s why her approach combines traditional primary care with the deeper, whole-body focus of functional medicine.
With over 13 years of experience in neurology and critical care prior to joining the OnePeak Medical team, Andrea focuses on the why behind fatigue, mood swings, gut discomfort, and other common symptoms. She takes time to understand your goals, learn about your lifestyle, and get to the root of what’s really going on. Her warm, collaborative style makes each visit feel like a partnership in building a care plan that fits your life.
Whether you’re training for trail season or just trying to shake that daily “post-lunch slump,” Andrea offers personalized support that meets you where you’re at.

☄️ Perseids Meteor Shower Peaks this Week
If you have the chance, try to find some dark skies this week, as the Perseid meteor shower will be reaching its peak. We try to head out east into the badlands pretty much every year to watch the show play out in the skies above. The lack of wildfire smoke will make things a little easier, but unfortunately, the moon phase won’t be doing us any favors.
Take it from this 40+ year old newsletter writer with a chronically stiff neck: either bring a blanket to lie down or a reclining camping chair. After an hour or so, your neck will thank you.
A month or two (or maybe it was three) ago, we shared the news of a group of locals who were starting a tool lending library. Well, a lot of work has been happening behind the scenes, and come September 5th, the Central Oregon Tool Library will officially be opening its doors at the Bend ReStore off of NE 3rd. Want to donate your time, money, or labor to help things get up and running smoothly? You can find more info on how to do so here.
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
✂️ Ribbon Cutting for Ace Handyman Services: Join the Bend Chamber as they celebrate the opening of Ace Handyman Services with a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration. Thursday @ 3 PM 1311 SE Wilson Ave
🍕 Ken’s Pizza reopens: New pizza hotspot Ken’s Artisan Pizza had to close for nearly a month due to a sprinkler malfunction in their downtown restaurant. But now pizza lovers can rejoice once again as they are officially back open for business. As before, they are open for dinner service only from Wednesday to Monday (closed on Tuesdays). And if you want to grab a table right at opening, you’d best hop in line early.
COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS
Bend is full of amazing folks helping to build a stronger community, and they can use your help! Here are a few opportunities for those looking to donate some time or materials.

🖌️ Open Arts Center donation drive: The Open Arts Center has secured their space for the future, and now they need your help outfitting it so students can hit the ground running. On Saturday, August 23rd, they’ll be hosting a supply drive and are asking folks to help out with new or gently used items like art supplies, furniture, musical instruments, tech & media tools, and household items. You can find more details here.

🎒 Boys and Girls Club school supplies: Sierra James is launching a Tools for Tomorrow School Supply drive benefitting the Boys & Girls Club of Bend. With the school year just around the corner, they’re collecting much-needed items to support local afterschool programs. While Bend-La Pine Schools does an amazing job providing in-class supplies, programs like the Boys & Girls Club could use a little extra help. Anyone who's had to juggle childcare during working hours knows how vital these programs are for families.
Folks can drop off supplies at the Sierra James office, or contact Mindy directly at [email protected] to schedule pick-up
🤝 Youth mentors needed at Circle of Friends: Circle of Friends is looking for volunteer mentors to support local youth in need. The organization partners with the Sisters School District to identify children from chaotic or low-income households and pairs them with trained mentors who provide consistent, long-term relationships. Working with schools, community partners, and parents, they create inclusive plans that help each child succeed. This summer’s focus is on outdoor adventure and leadership, offering positive experiences that build confidence and life skills. To learn more about becoming a mentor, contact [email protected].

TOGETHER WITH SALT AESTHETICS
The art of our work? Making everyone wonder if you had anything done at all.
Hey BendBuzz—feels good to be back!
A lot has happened since we last showed up in your inbox… Shannon got married and Suzanne welcomed a brand new baby girl. And through it all, we’ve kept doing what we love—helping people look naturally refreshed, not overdone.
For those who don’t know us, we’re Suzanne and Shannon, co-founders (and sisters) of Salt Aesthetics, a boutique medical aesthetics clinic right here in Bend. Like you, we've seen enough over-filled faces and bad Botox to last a lifetime. That’s why we do things differently.
We keep it simple: a few highly effective services, done really (really) well. No pushy sales, no pressure—just honest, expert treatments designed to make you feel like you.
Whether you’re a med spa regular or just curious about dipping your toes in, we’d love to meet you.
As a BendBuzz exclusive, we’re offering wrinkle relaxers (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport) at $12.60/unit for first-time clients. Come see what subtle can do.
