👩‍🚒 Three cheers to our firefighters

On Friday, fire season got a little too up close and personal for many Bend residents as a wildfire broke out along Highway 97 on the north side of town.

We watched nervously from our upstairs window at the column of smoke and as neighborhoods just to the north of us began evacuating. Thanks to heroic efforts from our local firefighters and air support from both near and far, the fire was stopped before spreading too far.

🎭️ Calling all plant moms (and dads)

Did you know that Bend’s favorite plant shop, Somewhere That’s Green, is also home to Central Oregon’s newest professional theater? That means that right in the same building where you picked up your latest monstera you can also take in a Broadway musical in an intimate theater setting.

The Greenhouse Caberet is gearing up for its latest production, Proof, a drama about an enigmatic young woman named Catherine, her manipulative sister, their brilliant father, and an unexpected suitor.

Shows will run August 16 - 31 and tickets are on sale now.

BEND OUTDOOR GUIDE

🧑‍🌾 Pick your own produce

Did you know that Bend is home to its very own U-pick farm, where you can wander through fields filled with fresh, locally grown veggies and stunning flowers?

Well Rooted Produce is located just 20 minutes from downtown Bend and lets you channel your inner farmer as you fill your basket with freshly dug potatoes and hand-picked tomatoes.

During melon season, they often have a tray of fresh-cut cantaloupe and watermelon slices to keep the little ones happy after a hard day’s work in the fields.
