In today’s Bend Buzz:

  • đŸŽ» DMB takes over the Amphitheater

🛝 A future home for the Bend Children’s Museum

A location has been selected that may become the future home of the Bend Children's Museum. The 11-acre lot near the Highway 97 and Highway 20 interchange would house the 25,000-square-foot interactive children’s museum, a swimming pool, and a family-friendly food truck lot. Don’t get your hopes up just yet, though, as construction is still years away.

In the meantime, you can attend their popup events around town to get a taste of what the future museum will hold.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

đŸ«” New life for the Bend Breakfast Club building

The old Bend Breakfast Club building on Greenwood and 4th on Bend’s east side is set to become a baja-fresh-style Mexican restaurant called The Burrito Hooch. Come the end of the year we should have another spot serving up everyone’s favorite combination of burritos and margaritas.

LOCAL LOWDOWN

Tuesday

🎾 DMB takes over the amphitheater: One of the biggest acts of the year comes to the Hayden Homes Amphitheater as the Dave Matthews Band brings their jam into town. Expect to overhear plenty of “did you hear Dave at Redrocks in ‘97” stories as you dance the night away to their classic hits. 7 PM Hayden Homes Amphitheater

🔬 Super science trivia Tuesday: Put on your lab coat and goggles and head over to Worthy Brewing for an evening of Nerd Night trivia. These questions will challenge even the most learned of scholars
which is exactly why you won’t find me there. Best of luck to you though! 7 - 9 PM Worthy Brewing

đŸ„â€â™€ïž Ladies night at the whitewater park: Grab your board and swing by the Bend Whitewater Park to catch some waves and make new paddling friends. All self-identifying women are welcome, and while there will not be any formal instructions offered, there will be plenty of tips and tricks to go around. 5:30 PM Whitewater Park

Wednesday

đŸ„” Downtown Bend farmers market: Farmers in Central Oregon are put through the wringer with 100 degrees one week and frost the next. Show your support for their hard work by stopping by the downtown farmers market to pick up your produce for the week ahead. We’re hoping our favorite potato variety, magic molly, makes an appearance at the Boundless Farmstead stand. 11 AM - 3 PM Brooks Alley

đŸŽȘ Campfire midweek market: Just because summer is almost over doesn’t mean market season needs to end quite yet. Campfire Hotel is hosting another of their midweek markets, and you’re invited. There will be music from Fractal, food from The Corndog Co., and plenty of cool drinks and fun vendors to check out. 5 - 8 PM 721 NE 3rd St

đŸš” Bend’s best riders hit the dirt: The Redline Rally is back at Bachelor and is the can’t-miss mountain bike event of the season. Watch as some of the area’s best riders bomb down Mt. Bachelor’s most infamous mountain biking trail. Attendance is free, and you can either ride down from Pine Marten to grab a front-row seat or hike up from West Village. Either way, you won’t want to miss it. 10 AM - 2 PM Mt. Bachelor

😆 A night of improv: Central Oregon’s local improv group, The Roundabouts, is hosting a night of improv comedy at Open Space Studios. Audience participation is expected, so catch up on back episodes of Who’s Line Is It Anyways so you’ll be ready. 7:30 - 9:15 PM 220 NE Lafayette Ave

đŸŽČ Game night at the library: Modern Games is hosting a game night at the downtown Bend library. They’ll be bringing a selection of their favorite games so you can learn the ropes or play with new friends. 6 - 7:30 PM 601 NW Wall St

Thursday

đŸȘ± Movies in the alley: Long before Dune made sandworms famous (in movie form, that is), we had to get our fear of what may lurk beneath the ground from the movie Tremors. And now the Tin Pan Theater is bringing the classic back to the alley. There are still a few seats available, and the forecast is looking good for an evening under the stars. 8:15 PM 869 NW Tin Pan Alley

đŸȘ© Grab your partner dosey doe: The Cross-eyed Cricket is hosting a night of free line and swing dancing lessons. So grab a partner and head on over to practice your left-right-lefts. 7 PM Swing & 8 PM Line Dance 20565 NE Branson Blvd

YOU ASKED, I ANSWERED

Thank you to everyone who sent in questions. Luckily, there weren’t any that needed to be filtered out, so thanks for keeping it family friendly 😆

Let’s get to the questions:

  • Do I have an app? Nope. But you can read the newsletters here and at https://bendbuzz.beehiiv.com

  • How do you stay so up to date on the goings on in Bend!? I spend way too much time on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and local news websites.

  • Does your family get as big of a kick out of your jokes as we do? I swear I didn’t send this one to myself to torment my wife. No, they usually just roll their eyes 🙄 đŸ˜‚

  • Favorite restaurant? Hmmm
I’m not sure I have a favorite, but the meal I could eat every day of the week and never get tired of is the spicy pork noodles from Spork.

  • Where are some of the places you would recommend to enhance the possibility of meeting singles? This one is a bit out of my wheelhouse, but I would recommend looking into clubs and get-togethers around your interests. Like rock climbing? Become a regular at the Circuit or Bend Rock Gym. Pottery? Check out the pottery studios in town that offer classes and open studio space time. Pokemon Go? There are regular meetups around town to catch squizzards and logomites. You get the picture.

  • Were you raised in Bend? Nope. I’m like seemingly everyone else here and moved to Bend in early 2020. I was born and raised in a small fishing town in Alaska (hi to anyone else in Bend from SE Alaska 👋 ) and moved around the Pacific Northwest for a while before settling in the high desert.
