TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Bend! We don’t personally recommend events all that often, but if you get the chance to attend an In A Landscape concert over the next few days (there are two at East Lake Thurs/Fri then one at Drake Park on Sat), we give them our stamp of approval (this isn’t a paid spot or anything, we’ve just really enjoyed them over the years).

In today’s Bend Buzz:

  • 💰 Funding for small businesses

  • 🧥 Carhartt store coming in November

  • 🏨 Shilo Inn to become Field and Stream

Let’s get to it.

— Derek Carlson & Emily Elaro

A fresh look for Alpenaura

By now, you probably know Dr. Jourdan Carboy and the team at Alpenaura Plastic Surgery. They've built a reputation in Bend for honest consultations, personalized care, and helping patients look and feel like their best selves. Now their website has gotten the same treatment.

The newly redesigned alpenaura.com makes it easier than ever to explore their full range of plastic surgery and holistic services, check out real patient before and after photos, learn what to expect at a consultation, and book when you're ready.

Speaking of ready: Alpenaura is running end-of-summer specials on UltraClear laser treatments, a great option for anyone looking to address discoloration, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, or overall skin texture.

📱 Follow @alpenauraplasticsurgery on Instagram for an inside look at procedures, recovery, and more.

🚧 More changes to construction along Franklin

Here’s the lowdown on construction work on Franklin Ave. There is now a westbound closure between NE 2nd and 3rd Streets, and an eastbound closure between NE 3rd and 4th Streets. Clear as mud? Check out the city’s map here for closures and detours.

💵 Funding available from two city programs

The City of Bend is currently accepting applications for two grant programs - the Climate Action Partner Grant Program (applications due Sep 8th) and the Small Business Assistance Grant Program (applications due Sep 19th).

The Climate Action Program is available to registered non-profits, government entities, and higher education institutions operating in Bend, and it provides financial support for community-driven projects that directly advance the goals of the City’s Community Climate Action Plan.

The Small Business Program is aimed at helping small businesses strengthen operational capacity, improve customer-facing services, expand opportunities for underserved entrepreneurs, and bolster overall business stability. You can check out the links above for more info on the programs and to learn how to apply.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

👖 Carhartt store officially coming to Bend: A while back, we shared the then-rumor that the old Cracker Barrel space would be housing a Carhartt store and a (ugh) Panera (sorry, Panera lovers). Half of that rumor has come to fruition as the Carhartt store has an official opening date of November 12th. There have been a few murmurings of what might be coming to the food side of the space, but nothing I’m ready to share quite yet.

🏨 Former Shilo Inn to be Field & Stream: And in other news, we shared last week that the new owners of the hotel formerly occupied by Shilo Inn had moved in and were donating all the old furnishings. They are currently updating the space and will be reopening as Field and Stream (the hotel, not the outdoorsy magazine/website). They currently operate another hotel in Bozeman, which you can check out here to get a feel for their aesthetic.
