TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Bend! Temperatures are getting a little spicy this week, and it looks like we might get our first triple-digit day of the summer. If this smoke sticks around, I’m guessing we’ll be seeing you all at the library!

In today’s Bend Buzz:

  • Bend North wins state

  • 🚧 NE 18th St back open

  • 🛻 Oregon Adventure Trucks opens new location

Let’s get to it.

— Derek Carlson & Emily Elaro

SafeSplash opens next month!

Didn't get the swim lesson spots you were hoping for this fall? Or are you just tired of waking up at 6 AM to fight the crowds? Starting in September, there's another way to go.

SafeSplash Swim School is opening on Bend's north side and enrolling now. They offer small group, private, and semi-private lessons for every age and skill level, from babies as young as 6 months to competitive swimmers working on stroke technique, plus adult learn-to-swim. Certified instructors, small class sizes, and a brand new purpose-built facility.

No more scrambling for a spot. Just sign up and swim.

Now enrolling. Opening early September.

📚 Correction to The Librarians

In Monday’s issue of the newsletter, I included the wrong date for The Librarians. The event will be taking place on August 16th at 11 AM, not two weeks ago on July 16th. Clearly, I’m in denial that we’re already into August!

⚾️ Bend Little League Wins State

A couple of days late on this one, but over the weekend, the Bend North Little League team took home the state crown. This means the under-12 crew will be headed to the northwest regional in California with the hopes of securing a berth at the Little League World Series.

🚧 Northbound Lane of NE 18th St is Back Open

Always fun to share that roads are opening back up instead of closing! The northbound lane of NE 18th off of Empire is back open and now includes a new connection to Yeoman Rd that runs over the canal.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🛻 Oregon Adventure Trucks moves to NoCo: The new business complex at Cooley and NE 18th (NoCo at Juniper Ridge, if you want the official name) has its first tenants as Oregon Adventure Trucks has moved in. Want to check out their space? They’ll be hosting a series of Wednesday workshops over the next few months, and we’ve included details for this week’s class below.
