The City of Bend has officially released four new pre-approved home plans designed by Sierra James Construction's on-staff architect, Ian Burgess.

These versatile plans can be used for:

✔ Single-Family Homes

Work along Franklin Ave between 1st and 4th street will begin today, June 15th. While both lanes of travel will generally remain open through the end of the month, you may encounter periodic delays. This is just the start, though, as you can expect additional closures as we move into July and August.

Ready for your little ones to take their riding on the slopes to the next level? Registration for MBSEF’s (Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation) winter programs opens today, June 15th. They offer alpine, freeride/freeski, and nordic programs for kids ages 7+.

The low snow year has opened up a lot of our area’s iconic hiking spots early. That was great for folks who didn’t want to deal with the hassle of snagging a Central Cascades Wilderness Permit. Unfortunately, those days are over as of today, as the permit season started this morning. Check out the FS site for full details on how to grab a permit this summer and which trailheads are impacted.

Today, June 15th, is opening day on the McKenzie Pass Highway. So grab your Central Cascades hiking permit and hit all the trails along this scenic route. Or just enjoy the drive up through the lava fields and back down along some nausea-inducing (at least for my kids) turns on the west side of the pass.

🛫 Local businesses coming to the RDM airport: Anyone who has flown recently is well aware of the construction taking place at the Redmond Airport. Part of the renovation includes adding a fancy new dining area, and we now know which local businesses will be serving up food, coffee, and drinks while you wait for your flight. Bend Brewing Company, Sisters Coffee, Sparrow Bakery, and Peet’s Coffee (not quite as local) will all be opening outposts so you can enjoy an IPA, ocean roll, and latte (although maybe not all at the same time) when you get to the airport 2 hours early.
