TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Bend! So what else are we gonna watch at 5:30 AM now that the Olympics are over?

In today’s Bend Buzz:

  • Hoodoo ski area reopens

  • 👱‍♀ Jackstraw’s first commercial tenant opens

  • 🏊‍♀ Bend schools dominate (again) at state

Let’s get to it.

Planning a Remodel or Building a Home You Can Grow Into?

More Central Oregon families are thinking long-term. Maybe you’re remodeling to welcome aging parents. Maybe you’re building a multigenerational home. Or maybe you simply want a house you won’t outgrow as life changes.

That’s where Sierra James Construction and their new partnership with LiveAble Homes come in.

LiveAble Homes specializes in Universal Design and accessibility consulting, helping homeowners create spaces that are safer, more adaptable, and easier to navigate at every stage of life. Through this new partnership, Sierra James now offers access to LiveAble’s certified design expertise directly in their Design-Build process.

Think wider doorways that don’t look institutional. Zero-step entries that make groceries, strollers, or wheelchairs easier to navigate. Showers you can age into without sacrificing style.

If you’re building or remodeling and want a home that works beautifully today and tomorrow, let’s design with the future in mind.

Hoodoo Reopens

Hoodoo ski area is back open for business, as they received a decent amount of snow over the past week. Here’s to hoping that the snow continues and we can keep skiing well into the spring (don’t look now, but March is riiiiight around the corner).

🏊‍♀️ Bend High Schools Dominate at State Championships

The Bend High School girls swim team continued their state dominance with their 4th consecutive 5A title over the weekend. They finished first in 9 of the 11 events and lapped the field with a team score of 112 points (Summit High came in second with 42 points).

On the snow, Summit High took home the boys and girls nordic ski titles at the state championship held at Mt. Bachelor over the weekend.

🛋 Call for Storytellers

Have a story you want to share in front of a crowd? Armchair storytelling is returning to the Tin Pan Theater on March 19th, and is looking for folks who are willing to sit up on stage and share a personal and true story centered around the theme of forward leap. Each storyteller gets up to 15 minutes, and there are no notes, no props, just you and the audience. Want to take part (or just buy a ticket to watch)? You can submit your story idea through their website.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

💇‍♀ Dry Bar opens at Jackstraw: On Friday, we saw the first business in the new Jackstraw building open up as Dry Bar began offering their blowout services to the public. Later this year, we should also see Way West (a collab between Bend Brewing and Sisters Smokehouse) and Sisters Coffee open.

🔭 Expedition club closing their downtown location: Sad news for folks who like to explore both the ground and sky, as downtown shop Expedition Club & Supply announced that they will be closing their store on March 2nd. Until then, they will be offering 25% off all items in the store. This isn’t the end, though, as they hope to find a new space and reopen in the future.
