Good morning, Bend! I hope everyone enjoyed the fall festival and getting their family photos taken at Shevlin over the weekend.
In today’s Bend Buzz:

Let’s get to it.

SPONSORED BY SILVERADO JEWELRY GALLERY
We’ve been putting a ring on Bend for 28 years. And apparently, we’re pretty committed.
Since 1998, Silverado Jewelry Gallery has been a downtown Bend icon; locally owned, fiercely independent, and filled with a phenomenal collection of handmade jewelry from artists around the world.
But we have a question for you:
How many pieces of jewelry do you think are inside Silverado?
From October 10–17, come into the gallery, have a look around, count (good luck!), and make your best guess for a chance to win a $200 Silverado gift card. Can’t make it in? Email us your guess, ([email protected])! Closest answer wins.
Silverado has grown right alongside Bend, and we’re especially proud of the people behind the jewelry. Several members of our team have been with us for more than 10 years, and many customers have been shopping with us just as long. We know their families, their anniversaries, their stories, and often exactly what jewelry they’re going to love.
And October 10th is extra special!
Join us for our Rene Escobar Trunk Show and meet Rene in person. Explore an expanded collection of his incredible work, see his newest pieces, and enjoy a glass of bubbly with us.
After 28 years, we’re still here, still sparkling, and still incredibly grateful to call downtown Bend home.

🎶 Concert Season at the Amphitheater Wraps Up
The final concerts of the 2026 season at the amphitheater wrapped up over the weekend, but fear not, music fans, as we already have our first announcement for the 2027 schedule. The Red Clay Strays will be coming to town on August 21st, and tickets go on presale starting on Thursday.
🔭 Cascade Astronomy Festival Kicks Off
The skies are clear, and things are looking good for a week of celebrating all things in the skies far above us. The Cascade Astronomy Festival kicks off today and runs through Saturday with daily events including talks, solar viewing, a swap meet, and the grand finale, a public star party at COCC. You can find the full lineup of events here.
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
🧖 Gather Sauna returns to Riverbend Park for the winter: Sauna and cold plunge in the river season is back, starting, well, 3 days ago at this point. Gather Sauna has returned to its spot at Riverbend Park for the season now that tubing season is complete (athough its warm enough this week that we could probably fit in one last float).
🍕 Chonies Pizza moves to BaseCamp: Chonies Pizza has packed up their oven and fridge of mozzarella and made the move from Van Henion Brewing off of Empire to the new Base Camp pod behind Powder House.
⛵ Summer season ends at Elk Lake Resort: Wanted to get one last lake day in this week, with the temps forecasted to hit the upper 80s? You can still do it, but pack a lunch as Elk Lake Resort is now closed for the season. Fear not, though, as they’ll be back open for winter starting December 18th.
COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
Bend Buzz Community!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the 4th Annual BISA (Breast Implant Safety Alliance) Fundraiser is coming to the COCC Hitchcock Theater on October 21, which also happens to be National Breast Reconstruction Day.
This year's guest of honor is Christine Handy, a professional model who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 41 and went on to write the bestselling memoir Walk Beside Me. Her story has been adapted into the award-winning film Hello Beautiful, which hit theaters nationally in September but isn't scheduled to play anywhere in Central Oregon. This event is a private screening, with Christine there in person to share her story.
It's also a chance to meet survivors, support women going through treatment right now, and stand with the local advocates doing this work. Nobody should go through this alone, and Bend has a way of showing up.

TOGETHER WITH FALLING LEAF TREE CARE

The leaves are coming down, the nights are getting cold, and there's a list of yard stuff you've been meaning to get to all summer. This is the window.
Scott at Falling Leaf Tree Care can knock it out before the snow does.
Fall cleanup. Trimming back the branches that'll be hanging over the roof or the driveway once they're loaded with snow. Grinding out that stump you keep mowing around. Taking down the tree that didn't make it through the summer. Whatever's been nagging at you, he'll walk the yard with you, make a plan, and clean up when he's done.
He's a licensed arborist who's been working around Bend for over 10 years. And once the snow does fly, he's up at Bachelor teaching skiing, so now's the time to get on his calendar.
