TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Bend! I just noticed that we have flowers blooming in our backyard. Maybe it’s time to just give up on winter being a thing in town this year.
In today’s Bend Buzz:
🥯 5th St Bagels closing at Ballers & Brews
⛷ Hoodoo closing again (although hopefully only temporarily)
💌 We need your feedback
Let’s get to it.

💌 We Need Your Input
Fresh off the heels of hosting our latest dinner club (thanks to everyone who came out, and if you’re interested in attending the next one, it’ll be on Thursday, March 12th at 6 PM), we’re getting the gears turning on a singles-focused event. But before we put the pen to paper, we need your feedback on what type of event you’d like to attend. So, if you’re single and ready to mingle, let us know below which type of event you’d like to see us host.
What type of singles event would you most likely attend?
🏂 Local Sponsors Needed for the Big Wave Challenge
The Gerry Lopez Big Wave Challenge is coming to Mt. Bachelor in just a bit over a month, and they are looking for local sponsors and auction item donations. All sponsorship proceeds benefit Oregon Adaptive Sports and Urban Surf 4 Kids, and all auction proceeds go directly to local legend Michele Schnake, who is currently battling brain cancer. If you’d like to get involved in the event or make a donation, you can reach out to the big wave crew here.
⛷ Hoodoo Closes Again
I think this is gonna be my last Hoodoo update of the year as I’m starting to feel a bit like a yo-yo. The rains over the past few days have led to some pretty significant flooding at Hoodoo, and the mountain is once again closed. They hope to open up by the weekend, but the forecast is looking very warm as our very warm winter continues.
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
🥯 5th St Bagels closing their food cart: Sad news for bagel fans as 5th St Bagels announced that they will be closing their cart at Ballers & Brews. I’m especially sad as they were walking distance from our house, and their bacon, egg, and cheese bagel was darn tasty. Their last day of regular service will be on February 28th, and after that, you’ll still be able to find them at pop-ups and other special offerings.
🎂 Bend Chamber Turns 100: The Bend Chamber of Commerce is celebrating their 100th birthday this year! They’ll be celebrating the milestone with a gala in May at the High Desert Museum. If you’re a business owner or just want to build your professional network, the Chamber puts on a number of events each month that are great for chatting over a cup of coffee or a frosty beverage.
