🍁 Bend Fall Festival is back

The annual Fall Festival is back, and they couldn’t have picked a better weekend for it. The festival will feature an artist walk, a kid’s zone with bouncy houses and pumpkin painting, a fall harvest market, the Bark Bash, and, of course, live music all weekend long. The festival runs Friday through Sunday in downtown Bend.

🎹 Central Oregon Symphony Fundraiser

The Central Oregon Symphony is asking for your help! When the auditorium at Bend High was demolished, the symphony lost an estimated $10,000 worth of assets used in their concerts. To help recover some of those losses, they will host a Saturday concert fundraiser featuring symphony members Ryan Zwahle on the oboe and Gary Ruppert on the piano. Help support the arts in Central Oregon!

🧩 Jigsaw puzzles with a local flair

Local artist Lindsay Gilmore is launching her first set of jigsaw puzzles featuring natural landmarks from around the high desert. Linsay is currently taking preorders through October 6th for the first production batch (that’s in two days!), with an expected delivery in early November. What better way to get an early jump on holiday shopping??

🧭 Celebrate with Discovery West

The Discovery West neighborhood is celebrating its grand opening with a weekend of live music, food and drinks, open house tours, and a special visit from astronaut Dr. Ellen Ochoa! Stop by, and you may even get to learn about Sparrow Bakery’s newest shop opening sometime next year 👀

Friday

🥳 First Friday is here: October is here, and that means it is time for another First Friday celebration downtown and at the Old Mill. Stop by local shops for free sips, snacks, music, and the chance to peruse art from local artists and makers. 5 - 8 PM

🦉 Wild & Scenic Film Festival: The Tower Theatre is playing host to the Oregon Natural Desert Association’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival. This event will feature short films addressing pressing environmental issues. While the event is sold out, there is also an option to join the online streaming show. 6 - 8:30 PM Tower Theatre

🍺 Celebrate fresh hop season in style: Just because the calendar says October, it doesn’t mean that fresh hop season is over. To celebrate, Bend Brewing is putting on a fresh hop festival with beers from over 20 breweries and live music all day long. 11 AM - 8 PM 1019 NW Brooks St

💁 Volunteer and board fair: Connect Central Oregon is hosting a volunteer and board fair. Stop by to meet with non-profit organizations to find out ways you can help make Central Oregon a better place to live. 4:30 - 7 PM Franklin Crossing Building

⭐️ Look to the stars at Rimrock Ranch: The Deschutes Land Trust, in partnership with the Sisters Astronomy Club, is holding a star-watching party at Rimrock Ranch. Come and look through the club’s powerful telescopes to see constellations and far-away galaxies. Registration is required. 6:30 - 10 PM Rimrock Ranch

🌕️ Bend Moonlight Market: It is time for the Moonlight Market once again at Open Space Event Studios. This maker’s market/costume party/haunted house is always a hit. Stop by for a hauntingly good time with an evening of live music, drinks, and more. 4 - 11 PM 220 NE Lafayette Ave

📅 Ditch the kids for date night: Free Spirit Yoga at the Old Mill is playing host to Ninja Night. A three-hour, kids-only event that will give parents a chance to go out and enjoy a meal in peace and quiet. Our kids absolutely love the ninja gym at Free Spirit, so this event is sure to be a hit for the little ones and parents alike. 5:30 - 8:30 PM 320 SW Powerhouse Dr

🎃 Spooky movie night: Ponch’s Place is kicking off October with a spooky Saturday movie series. This week’s screening is Beetlejuice, so grab some food and drinks from the pod’s food trucks and enjoy the movie. 6 PM 62889 NE Oxford Ct

🧘 $5 yoga: Bend Hot Yoga is celebrating their half birthday by offering $5 drop-in yoga classes all day long! Classes run all day long, so don’t miss this chance to take a bonus yoga class or try it out for the first time. 6:30 AM - 7 PM Bend Hot Yoga

🪟 Learn the art of stained glass: DIYCave is hosting an introduction to stained art class where, during this two-hour class, you will be able to create your own pumpkin or honeycomb suncatcher.

🎷 Autumn afternoon jazz: This one’s a little out of town but certainly still worth mentioning. Kick back for an afternoon of Jazz from the Portlandia Jazz Quintet at the scenic Black Butte Ranch. The weather is looking great for an afternoon on the lawn. 3 - 5 PM Black Butte Ranch

⛸️ Bend Ice Gear Swap: Not to be confused with the Ski Swap, which takes place next weekend, this is your chance to score a deal on ice skates, hockey gear, or that curling stone you’ve always wanted. 3 - 5 PM The Pavillion

🚲️ Chariot Bike open house: Come and hang out at Chariot Bike at their open house, where you can check out their new digs, demo bikes from Otsocycles, and enjoy a delightful assortment of snacks and coffee from Hush Hush Coffee. 4 - 7 PM 1444 NW College Way

🚵 Last day for summer laps: Today is the last hurrah for mountain bike season at Mt. Bachelor as they will be shutting down their summer operations and gearing up for the return of winter. Get one last lap in before you hang up the bikes and start waxing those skis.
