TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Bend! Well, this weekend is looking downright spectacular. We might need to trade in the pumpkin spice lattes and sweaters for one last river float of the year.

In today’s Bend Buzz:

  • 🍂 Fall Festivals are here

  • 🎿 Register your winter gear

  • 🍻 Terranaut Beer turns 2

Let’s get to it.

— Derek Carlson

Buying or Selling a Home Doesn't Need to Be Complicated

My job is pretty simple.

I help people buy and sell homes so they can get where they're trying to go.

The part that isn't always simple is the market.

Right now, mortgage rates are elevated again, and understandably, that's causing some people to pump the brakes. Higher rates can make buying more difficult. They can affect what buyers can afford. And for sellers, they can shrink the pool of people able or willing to buy their home.

But another obstacle doesn't necessarily mean your goal is off the table. It means understanding the market you're in, recognizing what's working right now, and putting together the right strategy to get the job done.

That's what I do.

If you're thinking about buying or selling and trying to figure out what makes sense in this market, I'm always happy to talk it through.

Want to Understand the Market for Yourself?

That's also why I created the H.O.M.E. Report, my free monthly look at what's actually happening across the Central Oregon housing market and what it means for buyers and sellers. The September numbers will be released on October 5th, with an updated look at where the market is changing, where buyers and sellers have leverage, and what I'm watching as we head further into fall.

You can read the latest report anytime at abrestate.com/home-library, or subscribe there to have the newest report sent to you each month.

🍂 Fall Festival takes over downtown Bend

It’s Fall Festival weekend in Bend. In addition to a few smaller fests around town, the big one will be taking over downtown for three days of food, drinks, live music, art, family-friendly activities, and more. The Fest kicks off on Friday evening at 5 PM with the food and music portion, and the rest of the activities kick off on Saturday morning at 11 AM.

🎿 Register your gear for the Ski Swap

The MBSEF Ski Swap is coming up next weekend, and this is your reminder that, if you’d like to sell your gear at the swap, it needs to be registered by Monday. That gives you a full weekend to go through your closet to pull out all those old skis and other winter gear that are ready for a new home. We’ll have more next week on the swap, presale party, and all that fun stuff.

⛸ Last day for roller skating at the Pavilion

Despite the 80+ degree temps forecasted into next week, Friday will be the last for roller skating at the Pavilion. They’ll be hosting an end-of-season party tonight (Friday), before beginning to transition over to ice season. The ice rink is tentatively slated to open back up on October 21st.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🌮 Papi Chulo’s 4th anniversary party: Come celebrate four years of tacos, margaritas, and good times at the Box Factory for Papi Chulo’s. On Friday evening (that’s tonight!) from 6 - 10 PM, they’ll be partying in style with food, drinks, and music.

🍻 Terranaut Brewing turns 2: Somehow, it’s already been two years since Terranaut Brewing opened. Come celebrate their second anniversary on Saturday with special beer releases, raffle prizes, live music, and food from Shark Mouth Fajitas and Pizza Beast.

🍦 Last weekend for Birdsong Ice Cream: Everyone’s favorite New Zealand-style ice cream spot (disregard the fact that it’s the only New Zealand-style ice cream spot in town) is staying open for one last weekend. So if you’ve had a hankering for some soft serve with real fruit blended in, you have until Sunday to grab a cone before they’re closed for the season.
