🎨 Art in the High Desert

Get ready for three days of art from acclaimed artists from around the country as Art in the High Desert returns to Bend. The event will be held in Riverbend Park and runs Friday through Sunday.

🗣️ High Desert Museum launches a new speaker series

The High Desert Museum announced that it is launching an Indigenous speaker series featuring a diverse array of native artists, storytellers, and scholars, offering the community a way to engage with and gain insight into Indigenous perspectives. The series will kick off next month and continue throughout the fall.

🚧 Another round of shifts and closures at 3rd St/Hwy 97/Hwy 20

If you’re headed north on 3rd Street hoping to access Highway 20 towards Sisters, or if you’re headed south on the old Highway 97 hoping to access 3rd Street, there will be detours in place over the weekend. On the plus side, after this weekend, drivers on northbound 3rd Street will be able to access the old Highway 97 without having to navigate the new roundabouts on Highway 20.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

⛷️ Mt. Bachelor hits the auction block

Well, this is big news just as the weather starts to turn cooler (there are even snowflakes in the forecast at Bachelor today), and downhill enthusiasts start to think about pulling their skis and snowboards out of storage. POWDR, the Utah-based owners of Mt. Bachelor, has confirmed that they will be putting the ski area up for sale in the coming weeks. Whether this means the mountain will be returning to independent ownership or will roll into another corporate conglomerate remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that changes are on the horizon.
