🥕 CSA signup season
Last year, I was a little more on the ball with sharing this info, but better late than never, right? There may still be snow on Black Butte (although maybe not for long if the current forecast is any indication), but that hasn’t kept farms around Central Oregon from getting their spring crops going. If you want to help support our local farmers and get a steady supply of fresh, Central Oregon-grown veggies all summer long, then consider signing up for a CSA. Signups are open at farms across the high desert, and we’ve put together a list of every veggie CSA we could find. So go sign up, support your local farmers, and enjoy fresh produce all summer.
🏀 Trinity Lutheran Boys Take Home the 2A Basketball Crown
Another weekend, another sports title for a Bend school. The boys basketball team at Trinity Lutheran traveled to Pendleton and took home the Oregon 2A title with a win over Regis. Congrats!
🎤 Bella’s American Idol Run Comes to an End
Monday’s episode of American Idol marked the end of the line for local Bella Emry. She put our little town on the map by advancing all the way to the Top 30 in Hawaii! But the good news is she’s back in town (we’ll pretend the shows weren’t filmed a few months ago) and will be putting on a live show at Portello Lounge this Saturday. Although I can’t promise there will be any reservations left by the time this newsletter comes out!
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
🫖 Bend Tea + Art Lounge opens on Thursday: After a soft opening over the weekend and a few paint the wall parties, Bend TEAL (Tea + Art Lounge) will be officially opening their doors to the public on Thursday. They’ll be open all day long, so you can drop in for a breakfast tea or make this your new evening hangout. They’re located downtown right next to the Deschutes Brewpub at 1024 NW Bond St.
🍺 Crux lawn closing for renovations: Crux will be closing their uber popular lawn for the next month or so, so they can install a full playground (just kidding!). The lawn will be getting some much-needed renovations (no playgrounds included…as far as I know), so it’s ready for another summer of warm weather hangs and brews. The El Sancho cart will also be closing during this time, which means Bend is down to just one Sancho location (sad face). But feel free to still swing by, as the brewpub will be open for business as usual.
🐶 A new way to run your dog: Don’t have the time or energy to give your dog the walks or runs they need? A new local business has popped up to solve just that problem. I Run Your Dog offers one-on-one walks, hikes, or runs with your furry friend to keep them moving and doing their zoomies outside rather than inside your home.
