TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Bend! I hope everyone was able to get out and enjoy the past weekend. Flowers are out, summit was open, and life was feeling good around Bend.

In today’s Bend Buzz:

  • 🛝 Spring break camps

  • 🏗 Changes for Petrosa’s commercial space

  • 🐝 Bees for your backyard

Let’s get to it.

— Derek Carlson & Emily Elaro

Are you a builder doing ground up construction? Or do you own an investment property in Bend or anywhere in Deschutes County?

You may have more financing options than you realize.

Conventus Lending works specifically with real estate investors and rental property owners, helping them unlock equity, improve cash flow, or finance their next acquisition or build.

Thinking about pulling cash out to purchase another property? Lowering your rate? Or simply restructuring your loans to better fit your portfolio? If so, you’ll work directly with John DesCamp, a Bend-based lender with more than 30 years of banking and lending experience

No call centers, no getting passed around. Just a local expert who understands the Central Oregon market and can help structure financing that fits your goals.

Right now, March applications have their $900 processing fee waived.

Curious what your options look like? Reach out to John to start the conversation.

🏗️ New Plans for the Commercial Space at Petrosa

I’m just the messenger here, as I’m sure (given the comments I’ve read on Facebook about this project so far) that some folks won’t be super pleased about this news. Developers are preparing to submit an application to the city for an affordable housing project that will use ~1/4 of the available commercial space at the Petrosa development in NE Bend. There are still no concrete plans for what will be done with the remaining commercial space.

Spring Break Camp Roundup

I’m still torn on whether I’m excited or terrified that the Bend school district lumped together conferences and spring break. Either way, those days are upon us as kids will be out of school starting next Wednesday through the following week. If you’re sticking around and need to get some work done during that time, there are quite a few spring break camps still available. This probably isn’t an exhaustive list, but here are all the camps we’ve found so far.

🍽 Last Call for Dinner Club

This is your last call to sign up for this week’s dinner club.

Here’s how it works:

  • Take a quick quiz — tell us your interests, food preferences, and vibe.

  • Get matched with 5 people who are heading to dinner with you.

  • Restaurant details arrive the morning of dinner — we handle the mystery so you don’t have to.

  • Meet for dinner, then if you’re up for it, join the optional after-party.

The details:
💵 $16 to save your seat.
🍽️ You pay for your meal.
🎉 We handle the rest.

If you haven’t saved your spot yet, now’s the time. The dinner happens next week on March 12th, at 6 PM, and you can grab your seat here.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🐝 Bee Friendly Bend bringing hives (and honey) to your backyard: A new local company, Bee Friendly Bend, is helping to bring bees (the good, honey-making kind) to your backyard so you can enjoy their pollinating benefits with none of the hive maintenance hassles. They’ll bring in a hive, do routine monthly maintenance, and at the end of the season, will leave you with your own jars of tasty honey. With this winter’s warm weather, they’ll begin placing hives in the first week of May, so this is a great time to reach out and get started.

🥕 Locavore coming to Discovery West: The Discovery West neighborhood will be getting a new tenant later in 2026, as they have announced that Locavore will be bringing their selection of local, fresh goods, produce, and meats to the west side. We’ll keep you updated as more details drop on potential opening dates and what the space will ultimately look like.
