Summer in Bend moves fast. Ballers & Brews makes it easy to keep up.

Every Sunday from 4 to 6, they've got free live music in the courtyard with local acts like Pete Kartsounes and Joyful Lane. Need to get the kids out of the house? Every Wednesday at 5:30, they're showing a free family movie on the big screen, including The Lego Movie, Encanto, and Spider-Man.

Grab dinner from the food carts where you can choose from pizza, bulgogi, gyros, BBQ, and more, then pair it with something from their 20 taps and settle in.

And on Saturday, August 9, Family Pickleball Day runs from 10 AM to 2 PM, where you'll get a 30-minute lesson followed by 30-minutes of open play.

The response for our Meet Your Neighbors event was overwhelmingly positive, so we’re making it happen. The date is set (Saturday, August 8th, from 4 - 6 PM), and all we need are some hosts. That’s where you all come in!

If you’d like to bring your neighborhood together over some conversation and a cool treat, fill out the form here. We’ll put together and email you a personalized invitation for you to print and hand out to as many or as few neighbors as you’d like.

The only thing we ask of hosts is that you’re available to hang out in your front yard for two hours (I want to keep this as informal as possible, so no need to make food, put out drinks, or invite folks inside) and purchase some popsicles to hand out.

I want to do my best to make this a community-wide event, but also understand that it is summer, and everyone is busy. If you’d like to host on a different date/time, just let me know.

How about a little road construction news to brighten your Monday morning? Folks who normally take Brosterhaus Rd between Murphy and Knott will need to find a new route (there’ll be signs for the detour) for the next month or so as the road will be closed for sewer construction. It should be back open in time for school to start, though.

Bend FC (the soccer program) is dipping its toes into the world of flag football with camps, rec, youth travel, and adult leagues. Camps are open now, and league play is open for pre-registration. They’re also hosting a free camp on August 18th for girls ages 7 - 10.

🍺 Broken Top Bottle Shop to close: This Friday will be the final day for Broken Top Bottle Shop, as they are closing their doors for good. So swing by to say goodbye and grab one of your favorite beverages. They’ll be hosting a going-away party on Friday with live music - more to come on that!

🍼 Locavore launches Baby Rx: Locavore has launched a new program for moms in need with Baby Rx. This prescription-based program provides breastfeeding and infant nutrition supplies to those in need. The program was launched with help from a grant, but will rely on donors to keep it going, so if you have the means, please consider chipping in to sponsor a Baby Rx care kit.

🏗 What’s that construction?: Work is underway on the lot between Arizona and Colorado by the Box Factory as holes are being dug, a building has come down (Project Bike will still be there, though), and soon, a new thermal wellness spa and hotel will be arriving. The luxury 68-room hotel/spa called CASCADA will likely open sometime in 2028.
