❄️ Plowing begins along the Cascade Lakes Highway
Put away the touring skis and get out the bike, as plowing has begun along the Cascades Lakes Highway. With a reported 8 feet of roadside snow, this job will take a while, but it’s another sign that summer in Bend is right around the corner.
On a similar note, the McKenzie Pass Highway is melting out quickly, and Eurosports out of Sisters always provides excellent updates on biking conditions before the road opens to cars for the summer.
🍺 Central Oregon breweries bring home the gold
The World Beer Cup took place last Thursday, and Central Oregon ended up well represented on the podiums. Medalists included gold for Sunriver Brewing’s Fuzztail, silver for Deschutes Brewery’s Kirkland Signatures Helles Lager (running to Costco now 🏃 ), silver for Wild Ride Brewing’s Cole’s Light Lager, Bronze for Bend Brewing Company’s Built to Chill Helles Lager, and silver for Monkless Belgian Ales’ Dubbel or Nothing.
💕 Mother’s Day is right around the corner
We’re only days away from Mother’s Day, and if you’ve been putting off booking the perfect brunch, we’ve got you covered. After scouring the internet, we found 20+ brunches, wine tastings, maker’s markets, and more to keep mom fed and happy on her special day. You can check out the whole list here.
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
🌞 Two Suns Art Center opens their doors: A new art studio & makerspace, Two Suns Art Center, is opening their doors TODAY to kids and adults alike. There will be evening open studio time for adults, early release Wednesday art classes, art play for the little ones in the morning, and plenty more. You can book classes here. Two Suns Art Center is located in the courtyard of the Century Center.
🍽️ 900 Wall shuts their doors for good: We’re not even halfway through 2025 yet, and another Bend institution has closed its doors. Downtown restaurant 900 Wall announced on Instagram that Sunday’s service was their last. Here’s hoping for a good summer season, or we may be seeing a lot more of these announcements over the rest of the year. 😢
