🧭 Before you head out

More bad news for winter events, local business anniversaries, and businesses closing in protest

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Bend! Heads up if you’re headed out to any local businesses today, many have stated that they will be closing, only accepting cash, or opening for limited hours as part of the nationwide protest. If you choose to support Bend’s local businesses, I’d recommend checking out their social accounts to make sure they’re open.

In today’s Bend Buzz:

  • 🥣 Grab your tickets to the SOUPer Bowl

  • ❄️ Great Nordeen pushed back and VertFest cancelled

  • 🏓 Rally Recreation celebrates one year in business

Let’s get to it.

— Derek Carlson & Emily Elaro

As we make our way into the new year, the team at Alpenaura Plastic Surgery wants to say a genuine thank you to everyone who found their way to the practice through the Bend Buzz. It’s been a meaningful year of meeting new patients, building trust, and being part of some big, life-changing moments.

That support helped Alpenaura earn the title of Best Plastic Surgery Practice in Bend in the Best of the Best of Bend, an honor the entire team is proud of.

Led by board-eligible plastic surgeon Dr. Jourdan Carboy, Alpenaura offers facial procedures, breast surgery, body contouring, and gender-affirming care, all delivered with a thoughtful, patient-first approach. They accept insurance, offer payment plans, and provide in-person consultations so patients can explore options with clarity and confidence.

Ready to start the conversation? Call Alpenaura at 541-762-0262 to schedule your in-person consultation.

⛷️ Great Nordeen Rescheduled and VertFest cancelled

This year’s abysmal snowpack has claimed another pair of victims (although one hopes to still give it a go) as the Great Nordeen fatbike and xc ski race has been rescheduled to March 14th, and VertFest at Mt. Bachelor has been cancelled. The Great Nordeen race was originally scheduled to take place this weekend, and VertFest was originally set to happen next week on February 8th.

🥣 SOUPer Bowl is Back Next Weekend

Now that the Bears are out of contention, there’s only one SOUPer Bowl that I care about (sorry to the Seahawks fans out there), and that is HDFFA’s annual fundraiser happening on Saturday, February 7th, at Grace Lutheran Church. Tickets get you a seat at the table where you can sample soups from 13 local restaurants and vote for your favorite. They offer two seatings, and the first is already sold out, so this might be your last chance to get tickets to support an amazing local organization and sample some tasty soups. Grab your tickets here.

🌯 February’s Premium Subscriber Perk

February is just about here, and this month we’ll be sending a free breakfast burrito from Bend Breakfast Burrito to all of our premium subscribers. For those who might be new here, our premium subscriber club is a way to help support the Bend Buzz directly, and in exchange, we send you a free perk from a local business each month. Past months have included passes to coworking spaces, climbing gyms, free smoothies, and more!

Our premium subscriber email will be going out this weekend, so if you want to get on the list, you can do so here.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🏓 Rally Recreation anniversary party: Rally Recreation is celebrating one year in business with a party on Saturday. Swing by to say congrats, play some games like pool, ping pong, or foosball, and enjoy 50% off admission!

🍺 Vote for Terranaut!: Show local brewery Terranaut some love by giving them a vote for best new brewery in the USA Today’s 10BEST awards (they’ve already taken home the award for the small brewery of the year in Oregon). Right now they’re sitting in 5th place, but I think with a bit of a push we can move them up the leaderboard pretty quickly!

🚲️ Webcyclery Grand Reopening & 28th Anniversary Celebration: I’m a little late to the party with this one, as they have officially been celebrating all week long, but there are still two days of fun left! Webcyclery is celebrating its grand reopening (a fire had displaced them for a while) along with their 28th anniversary! Stop by to check out the special discounts along with daily giveaways.
