Thinking About a Little Refresh?
If you’ve ever wondered what plastic surgery actually looks like when it’s done well, take a look at Dr. Jourdan Carboy at Alpenaura Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Carboy was recently voted Best Plastic Surgeon in the Best of the Best of Bend, and she’s built a reputation for results that look natural, balanced, and thoughtful. ☀ Winter Coming to an End
Many of our favorite winter recreation areas around the high desert are wrapping up for the season due to warm temps and low snowpacks. Grooming at Meissner is done for the year, as most of the trails are more road and snow at this point. Hoodoo has also wrapped up operations (barring a miraculous, late-season storm). In town, the Pavilion will be switching from ice to…well…not ice, on April 4th. It’ll take around 10 days before the roller rink is ready for summer action.
🦦 High Desert Museum Breaks Ground on $40m Expansion
Our favorite local museum is growing as they have broken ground on a brand spanking new $40m expansion. The work will take around a year and a half and, once completed, will have added new classrooms, community gathering spaces, and a new art gallery so they can feature even more artists from around the high desert. The museum will be fully open during construction, and other than some changes to the parking lots during the first few months, visitors shouldn’t notice any material impacts.
BUSINESS HAPPENINGS
🥯 Mimi’s Bagels moving into new location: Big news in the world of bagels (and for folks who were tired of seeing businesses along Galveston close down) as Mimi’s Bagels announced that they will be moving into the old Ida’s Cupcake Cafe location on NW Galveston. The space will allow them to serve up bagels (of course), along with coffee, breakfast and lunch, and other pastries. We’ll keep you up to date on when they announce a projected opening date.
🔍 New Goodwill to open next month: The new Goodwill superstore on the north end of town is set to open on April 9th. Don’t fret if you’re a frequent visitor to the store on the south end of town, as that one is slated to remain open as well.
🍗 Volcano Wings opens at Spider City Brewing: Fans of chicken wings have a new option as Volcano Wings, a food truck specializing in your favorite beer adjacent food, has opened at Spider City Brewing. They are open for business now, so swing by and check it out!
LOCAL SPOTLIGHT
Welcome to the new home for community org spotlights. While this section might not be in every newsletter, we’ll include it whenever we need to shine a little light on cool folks doing good in Central Oregon.
♻ Rubbish Renewed Eco Fashion Show: Bend’s trashiest fashion show (I swear I mean that in a good way) is coming to the Pavilion on May 9th. Want to get involved? They are hosting two more fashion design workshops in April. Want to attend the event and help raise some money for the Realms Schools? Tickets are on sale now and will get you a seat to see the models strut their stuff in outfits that are made from upcycled materials.
🫂 Clear Mourning: Clear Mourning is a local org helping to give folks freedom to grieve the loss of a loved one in their own way. For kids who have experienced the loss of a loved one, they offer both a monthly Kids Lounge (the next one is happening on April 16th) and a summer camp called Camp Courage (happening June 22-25).

TOGETHER WITH LOU’S DETAIL
Time to Wash the Winter Off Your Car
Between snow, granola bar crumbs, mud, and whatever else you tracked back from the mountains, your car has seen some things this winter.
But now it’s time to get your car summer ready, and that’s where Lou’s Detail comes in.
They go way beyond a quick wash. We’re talking full interior and exterior details, clay bar treatment, hand wax, and a deep clean of every surface, seam, and crevice. Carpets and upholstery get shampooed, pet hair is removed, and even the engine bay gets cleaned up.
Even better, they’re mobile, so they come to you and take care of everything while you go about your day.
