🍽️ The Source announces its restaurants of the year
As is tradition around these parts, The Source bestows upon a local restaurant the crown of restaurant of the year. This year’s winner is Rancher Butcher Chef (I’ve only tried their burger, and it was delicious). There were also categories for the best rookie restaurant (Hawkeye & Huckleberry), best food cart (Tacos Pihuamo), and rookie food cart (Cotto).
🌲 Cabin Butte project kicks off with wholesale land closures
If you’d been putting off making one last trip out to Horse Butte for a bike ride, hike, or just to wander through the forest, it looks like you’ve missed the boat. The Cabin Butte Vegetation Management Project-related closures were slated for May 1, but recreationalists reported signs over the weekend stating the area would be closed starting Monday, April 28th and will last at least a year.
Did you know that we offer a premium membership at the Bend Buzz? Whether you want to just chip in a few bucks each month to help things operate smoothly around here or you want in on some of the sweet monthly perks, there is no better day than today to make the upgrade.
We’ll be sending out our May premium member email later this week. It includes a FREE month’s membership at BendTECH coworking space (this normally runs $300!) just above the Old Mill, as well as first access to our meetups and our monthly event preview calendar. So if you’ve wanted to get out of the coffee shop scene and check out a coworking space, this is a pretty sweet deal!

🛶 Elk Lake Resort sells to new (local) owners: After five years on the market, Elk Lake Resort finally has new owners who are ready to usher this summer (and winter) destination into its next era. Details were sparse on the sale, but the new owners said they were committed to making the necessary improvements so that families could enjoy the space for years to come.
🐕️ A food truck for dogs: Hungry Hound, Bend’s only food truck exclusively for dogs, reopened for the season at WoofFest on Saturday. If you want to treat your pup a special dinner then give them a follow, as they will be setting up shop at different locations throughout Central Oregon over the summer.
🍛 Spiceland Indian restaurant opens in downtown Bend: Bend’s newest Indian restaurant quietly (or maybe not so quietly for folks who are downtown more than I am) opened its doors a week or so back, and the early word is that the food is downright delicious. We haven’t tried it yet, but can’t wait to swing by. Per Google, they are open from 10 AM - 11 PM seven days a week.
