🛣️ A new bridge over the Deschutes?

City looking into possibility of a new bridge, Farewell Market opening delayed, and more summer concert announcements

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Bend! I hope everyone has been able to get out and enjoy this amazing fall weather. The snow will be falling soon enough, so we’ve gotta take in these last warm days while we can. If you need an excuse to get outside, I’d highly recommend taking a stroll through Shevlin to check out the larches.

In today’s Bend Buzz:

  • 🛣️ A new bridge over the Deschutes?

  • 🧺 Farewell Market opening delayed

  • 🎶 Four more summer concerts announced

Let’s get to it.

🏃‍♀️ Summit Storm Girls Take State Cross Country Title

The Summit Storm girls' cross country team took home the Oregon 5A state title over the weekend, their 16th over the last 17 years (elevation training for the win). While they didn’t have the top overall finisher, they did end up with five finishers in the top 15. Congrats!

🛣️ Could A New Bridge Be Built Over the Deschutes?

A few weeks ago, we let you know that BPRD had reopened its work on a potential new footbridge over the Deschutes on the south side of town. Now, the city is looking into the possibility of building a new bridge, this time for cars, over the river in an effort to relieve congestion along Reed Market. This project is currently nothing more than a twinkle in the city’s eye, so actual studies, potential locations, and shovels hitting the ground would still be years away.

BUSINESS HAPPENINGS

🎵 More 2026 concert announcements: Another round of summer concerts at the amphitheater has been announced over the last couple of days. Bonnie Raitt will get the summer started right on June 8th, Train will be joined by Barenaked Ladies and Matt Nathanson on August 28th, Matt Rife is making his return on August 27th, and Jack Johnson will bring his cool sounds of summer on September 27th. Tickets for all four shows will be available starting on Friday, both online and in person at the Ticket Mill in the Old Mill (this is a great way to save on those online ticket fees 🤫 )

🧺 Farewell Market opening delayed a few weeks: Folks in SW Bend hoping to be able to walk to a new neighborhood grocery store to pick up a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner (or an extra bottle of wine to get by until the in-laws leave…jk) will have to wait a couple of extra weeks as Farewell Market has delayed their opening until mid-December. The new market will be going into Brookswood Plaza in the space previously occupied by C.E. Lovejoys.
